Swiss March annual inflation rises

Switzerland’s consumer price annual inflation rose to 1 percent in March from 0.5 percent in February, the Federal Statistical Office said Wednesday. Economists had expected it to stagnate at 0.5 percent.

Month-on-month, consumer prices increased 0.6 percent in March, bigger than the consensus forecast of 0.2 percent rise.
Clothing and footwear cost climbed 14.9 percent in March and housing and energy prices advanced 2.9 percent. Alcoholic and beverages cost recorded an annual increase of 5.2 percent. Meanwhile, food and non-alcoholic beverages prices decreased 3.2 percent.
