TEHRAN – Constructing a nuclear power plant from scratch will be much more economical and faster, MP Hassan Qafourifard said on Friday.

Since the Russian contractor has not been able to finish the Bushehr power plant project so far, “it seems constructing a plant from zero is faster and less costly,” Qafourifard told the Mehr News Agency.
Qafourifard, a nuclear expert, is the head of a special committee tasked with investigating the delay in making the Bushehr power plant operational.
Unfortunately, Russia blames technical problems for the delay, he noted.
He also said the question of whether constructing such a plant, in spite of the fact that it has taken too much time and money, was a right thing to do or not, should be answered.
