KLF14, a gene already linked to Type 2 diabetes and cholesterol, has been identified as a sort of ""master switch"" gene controlling a broad array of metabolic factors linked to obesity in a recent London study. It should help in the development of treatments for such diseases as obesity, heart disease and diabetes.
