Iran, Pakistan meet on border security

TEHRAN – The 18th Summit of Iran-Pakistan Border Commission kicked off on Tuesday in Zahedan, Sistan-Baluchistan Province, to discuss border security and fight against terrorism.

A 20-member delegation of Pakistani state and federal officials, led by Seyfollah Cheta, the secretary general of Baluchistan State of Pakistan, arrived in Zahedan in the morning, the Mehr news agency reported.

Ali-Asghar Mirshekari, Iranian co-chairman of the meeting, said the conference will discuss issues including border trade, border markets, promotion of border security, and fight against terrorism and organized crimes.

“The Pakistani delegation will also hold meetings with Sistan-Baluchistan governor, officials, and businessmen,” he added.

Based on the agreements between the two countries, Iran-Pakistan joint meetings will be held every six months either in Sistan-Baluchistan of Iran or Quetta of Pakistan.
