TEHRAN - An international conference entitled “The need for Islamic Unity” will start work Saturday in London which runs until Sunday.

The London Islamic Center will host the meeting. Leading scholars from the U.S., Austria, Denmark, Sweden, Iran, Britain, Iraq, Lebanon, Kuwait and some other Islamic countries are expected to attend the conference. The conference is arranged with the cooperation of the Tehran-based the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought. How to prepare the ground for proximity between religions, international approaches for establishing unity, and the role of scholars in brokering Islamic unity will be on the agenda of the conference. There should be an emphasis on common principles and clearing up misunderstandings in order to bring Muslims’ hearts closer to each other, the conference secretary Dr. Ali Ousi has insisted.
