TEHRAN (IRNA) -- The Expediency Council (EC) Chairman Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani called on supporters of the Islamic Revolution of Iran to foil enemies' plots through their unity.

"Under the current conditions when the enemies have targeted Iran through more extensive planning, sympathizers of the Islamic Revolution should thwart their conspiracies," Rafsanjani added. According to the EC Public Relation Department, the senior cleric made the remarks in a meeting with families of martyrs of Tir 7 (June 27) bomb blast at the Islamic Republic Party headquarters in 1981. "Enemies of the country have committed numerous crimes against the Iranian nation including assassination of individuals since the victory of the Islamic Revolution," he said, adding "They are currently trying to eliminate political and influential figures of the revolutionary government to obtain their objectives." The EC chairman noted that the bloods of martyrs of Tir 7, have safeguarded the system and revolution, thus, their path and goals should be introduced to the young generation
