Bahrami was playing in the play “Wonder of Creatures” by Reza Servati last year when he found out about his disease (T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia) and the play has been halted ever since.
Then the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance and Tehran Municipality took charge of the entire expense of dispatching the artist to Germany for treatment.
Now after six months, he returned to Tehran and was welcomed at the Imam Khomeini International Airport by his family and reporters on Saturday.
“I promised to return from Germany healthy and now it has happened,” he told the reporters who came to the airport.
He called the past six months “hard and unbearable” but he said that he was supported by a kind of power which he believed was “the prayers of people” for him.
“If I want to narrate the story of my illness beginning two years ago, it is just like a miracle especially over the past six months. The disease, whose name is really terrible, shrank from me due to the power of prayer,” he mentioned.
He said that Deputy Culture Minister for Artistic Affairs Hamid Shahabadi and his advisor Abbas Azimi, Iranian Artists Forum’s director Majid SarsangiMajid Sarsangi and poet Mehdi Mazaheri are among his numerous friends who helped him financially and spiritually.
He said that he missed the stage so much that he was always asking his physicians when he could return to it.
Bahrami has acted in several plays. He has also played in the film “Farewell Baghdad”, Iran’s submission to the Academy Awards in 2010.
