TEHRAN – Defense Minster Ahmad Vahidi has said that Iran will certainly receive damages for Russia’s failure to deliver S-300 missile systems.

Vahidi made the remarks during a meeting of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee on Sunday.

According to a contract signed in 2005, Russia was required to deliver S-300 air-defense systems to Iran, but it reneged on the agreement and the contract was canceled.

“Mr. Vahidi commented on the Islamic Republic’s new missile achievements, and about the S300 missiles said, ‘After Russia refused to deliver the mentioned missiles, the Defense Ministry first proceeded to get back Iran’s payments to restore the rights of the Iranian nation. Then, action was taken to (claim) damages and the necessary lawsuit was filed, and we will certainly receive damages,’” MP Hossein Naqavi-Hosseini, who is the rapporteur of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, told reporters after the meeting.
