‘National interests should not be sacrificed for factional objectives’

TEHRAN - Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi said on Wednesday that the country’s national interests and security should not be sacrificed for factional objectives.

Qassemi’s comments came as a response to claims by a parliamentarian on detention of what he called a spy in a team which accompanied Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif during his trip to Turkey.

The Foreign Ministry spokesman described the claims as “unfounded, wrong, and sheer lie.”

“The Foreign Ministry does not intend to enter into such wrong political games and fabrications and insists that a few ones should not sacrifice national security and interests for their factional and personal objectives and motivations,” Qassemi added.
