Seyyed Hossein Nasr’s “Study Quran” up for review at Tehran meeting

TEHRAN – Islamic philosopher Seyyed Hossein Nasr’s book “The Study Quran: A New Translation and Commentary” will be reviewed in session to be held at the Mahmud Afshar Foundation in Tehran this afternoon.
The session has been organized in collaboration with the Persian literary monthly Bokhara.
“The Study Quran” is a historic and groundbreaking work, produced by a distinguished team of Islamic studies scholars led by Nasr, a professor of Islamic studies at George Washington University
Published in November 2015 by HarperOne, the famous American publisher, the book offers a new English translation of the Quran that is accurate, accessible and reliable.
The book also offers a rigorous analysis of its theological, metaphysical, historical and geographical teachings and backgrounds, and includes extensive study notes and special introductions by experts in the field, the publisher has announced.
Nasr is scheduled to participate in the review session via Skype video chat, while scholars Mostafa Mohaqeq-Damad (Department of Islamic Sciences of the Academy of Sciences of Iran Director) and Nasrollah Purjavadi (philosophy professor at the University of Tehran) are expected to attend the session.
