TEHRAN - Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi said on Friday that Iran-Germany relations are based on mutual respect and Iran will accept no precondition for a friendly and normal ties with Berlin.

“As we have stressed for many times, relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Germany are based on mutual interests and respect and no precondition is accepted in relations; in addition, we consider mediation of a third side totally unacceptable and detrimental to bilateral ties,” Qassemi remarked.

His comments came as German Economy Minister Sigmar Gabriel said in an interview published by weekly news magazine Der Spiegel on Friday that Iran could have normal, friendly relations with Germany only when it accepted Israel’s right to exist.

Qassemi said that Iran will let no country interfere in its domestic affairs.

He warned Germany of “ill-wishers” who spare no efforts in causing harm to bilateral relations.

Elsewhere, he said that Iran considers defending the Palestinian people’s rights as part of its “unwavering” foreign policy and will not abandon supporting the Palestinian cause.

“In a situation that the international terrorism threatens all countries’ interests, it is expected that the countries, especially the ones which have been victims of terrorism, seek fighting extremist ideologies seriously,” he pointed out.
