TEHRAN – The Iranian foreign minister on Saturday tweeted a post commemorating Ashura, the martyrdom day of Imam Hussein (AS).

Mohammad Javad Zarif’s tweet read, “Solemn remembrance of #Ashura: the eternal testimony to overcoming might with right; tyranny with justice; oppression with sacrifice.”

In his post, the foreign minister included a portrait of Mahatma Gandhi, the preeminent leader of the Indian independence movement in British-ruled India, with a quotation from Gandhi reading, “I learnt from Hussein how to achieve victory while being oppressed.”
