Cooperation with Russia, Syria in line with interests: Iran
TEHRAN – Defense Minister Hossein Dehqan said on Monday that Iran will confront any attempt aimed at creating instability in the region, noting Iran is cooperating with Russia and Syria in fight against terrorists due to “common interests”.
Addressing a press conference during his visit to the press exhibition in Tehran, Dehqan said the security and stability of the region are among most important objectives of Iran.
“We will not tolerate any action that would threaten our security and stability,” he underlined.
He further said, “Our cooperation with Russia and Syria is in line with our objectives and interests around the world.”
“We will fight along these two governments until terrorist groups are annihilated and security is restored in the region,” Dehqan asserted.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Iranian defense minister thanked the media outlets for holding an active press exhibition. “The lively and pervasive presence of the press in this exhibition indicates that people respect and care about active media outlets.”
And that the news media can see their influence on the public opinion, he added.
Dehqan noted that the press should move towards acting professionally because they have the responsibility of shaping public opinion and educating the society.
“However, today media have diverted from this end.”
