Candidates must not dictate to the Guardian Council: cleric

April 15, 2017 - 9:31

TEHRAN – An interim Tehran Friday preacher has urged the presidential candidates to obey the law, saying those who run for president must not dictate to the Guardian Council.

“One who demolishes the strongholds of the law certainly does not have an Islamic thinking,” Ayatollah Kazem Seddiqi said on Friday.

Seddiqi further said that Iran needs a president who can fight the world’s arrogant powers and “not be submissive to them”.

He also called for a huge turnout in the upcoming presidential election.
