Persepolis, Esteghlal held in Iran Professional League

Persepolis and Esteghlal football teams were held by Padideh and Siahjamegan respectively on Monday.

Persepolis missed chance to go back to the top of the Iran Professional League (IPL) table after a 0-0 draw against Padideh in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium.

The Iranian giant were the better team but failed to find the back of the net, they seemingly lacked a cutting edge up front.

Persepolis sit second in the table with 24 points, one point behind IPL leader Pars Jonoubi Jam.

Earlier in the day, Esteghlal were held to a 0-0 draw by Siahjamegan in Mashhad.

The Blues are 11th in the table after 12 weeks.

Pars Jonoubi suffered their first defeat, losing to Foolad 1-0 in Ahvaz.

Elsewhere, Sepahan defeated Tractor Sazi 3-0, Saipa edged past Naft Tehran 1-0 and Sepidrood Rasht suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Zob Ahan.

Pars Jonoubi remain top, followed by Persepolis, Paykan, Foolad and Padideh.
