TEHRAN – Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said on Tuesday that Iran can join the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime (UNTOC) using a reservation under the 1969 Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties (VCLT).
“In this way if a country does not accept our conditions, it can stop its cooperation with us in that certain matter,” Larijani said, IRIB news reported.
He also said two parliamentary bills on Iran’s accession to the UNTOC, also known as Palermo Convention, and amending anti-money laundering law have been submitted to the Expediency Council after the Guardian Council voiced concerns about the bills.
