Advisor: Tehran, Baghdad to develop closer ties

TEHRAN – In a meeting in on Saturday, Iranian and Iraqi officials underlined the necessity for closer relationship, IRNA reported.

Iran and Iraq will further boost their close and strategic relations, said Hossein Amir Abdollahian, a senior foreign policy advisor to the parliament speaker.

Amir Abdollahian made the remarks in a meeting with Mohammed Salem Al-Ghabban, a member of Iraqi parliament’s foreign policy committee.

He lauded the Iraqi people and government for their fight against terrorism and defending the country's sovereignty.

Amir Abdollahian also said the United States’ interventionist policy is against the region's stability and security.

The Iraqi lawmaker also thanked Iran's support for Iraq and called for improvement of all-out ties with Iran.
