More Afghan Refugees Repatriated From Isfahan Province

ISFAHAN As part of the voluntary repatriation program for refugees, 359 Afghan refugees residing in this Central Province returned to their homeland on Monday.
The provincial Bureau of Foreign Nationals and Immigrants announced here on Monday that the voluntary return of Afghan refugees is currently taking place with the help of the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR).
Afghan refugees started returning home on April 13, after an agreement was reached between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the UNHCR.
According to the UNHCR-sponsored voluntary repatriation program, the return of some 100,000 Afghan refugees residing in different parts of the Islamic Republic of Iran within six months has been planned.
Some 6,966 Afghan refugees have so far returned to their homeland from Isfahan Province alone, the bureau said.
