TEHRAN-Seven films from Iran will compete in different sections of the 9th LAMPA Film Festival in Perm, Russia, which is slated to be held from October 3 to 8.

In the category of Short Socially Oriented Feature Film, “Braille” by Behrad Ezzati, “Najan” by Mohammad Mehdi Bagheri, and “Crippled” by Ali Ahmadi will compete with 10 other works from Russia, India, Denmark, Armenia, Austria, Switzerland, Honaronline reported on Monday.

“Yaar” by Nahid Malayeri will be screened in the Short Socially Animated Film category along with five other animations from Russia.

In the Social Video category, “Wood” by Morteza Payeshenas, “Lullaby” by Elham Khazaei, and “Delivery” by Zahra Irannezhad will compete with seven other films from Russia, France, and the Netherlands.

LAMPA Film Festival is recognized internationally and serve as a center of attraction for directors of social cinema and social innovators. The Film Festival collaborates with the United Nations to promote Sustainable Development Goals.

Program of the festival includes public screenings of the best competitive works, educational sessions from jury members and directors of social films, meetings with films' main characters, and interactive exhibitions from directors and authors of socially oriented projects.

The festival has become one of the most prominent platforms for positioning good stories and one of the largest international events in the field of volunteerism and social media. 

It focuses on showcasing different film formats, from short narratives and documentaries to animation, music videos and cause-related advertising. The selected inspiring films motivate acts of kindness, deliver extraordinary stories of ordinary people, empower and encourage to take practical steps to make our world a better place. 

For this year’s edition of the festival, 525 social-oriented shorts, videos and social ads from 63 countries were submitted. Besides, 87 films were submitted for special nomination founded in cooperation with the UN Refugee Agency. All the films presented narrate about people and events that cause positive changes in the society all over the world.

However, after contest evaluation, 56 works from 12 countries were included in the short list. In addition to Iran, films from Russia, Armenia, Denmark, Mexico, France, India, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria, and Canada will be screened at the event.
