Voice actor Nasser Tahmasb passes away at 84

TEHRAN- Renowned Iranian voice actor and narrator, Nasser Tahmasb, passed away on Friday at a Tehran hospital due to a stroke. He was 84.

Born in Jahrom in 1940, Tahmasb began his career in voice acting in 1961. He is the brother of the esteemed Iranian children's film director, Iraj Tahmasb.

Tahmasb was known for his exceptional skills in delivering both serious and comedic roles, as well as his versatility in mastering various accents. Throughout his career, he lent his voice to iconic actors such as Harold Lloyd, Jack Nicholson, James Stewart, Cary Grant, Humphrey Bogart, Henry Fonda, Steve McQueen, Gary Cooper, Jane Hackman, Anthony Perkins, Peter Sellers, David Johnson, Kevin Spacey, Ian Richardson, and many more, effectively bringing their characters to life on the Iranian screen.

In addition to his remarkable voice acting in leading roles, Tahmasb made significant contributions as a dubbing director and supervisor in an array of films and TV series. His remarkable dubbing performances, such as replacing Jack Nicholson in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest," Richard Dreyfuss in "Goodbye Girl," Dustin Hoffman in "Papillon," Leslie Howard in "Gone with the Wind," and Johnny Sekka in "Mohammad, the Messenger of God," firmly established his lasting legacy in the field of dubbing.

Apart from his contributions to Iranian cinema, Tahmasb also left his mark on Iranian and foreign TV series, as well as animated movies, with memorable roles that endeared him to audiences of all ages.
