TEHRAN -- The Armenian security police prevented the entry of some Iranian professors and students into Armenia without any logical reasons.
The academics from the Geography Faculty of Tarbiat-Modarres University left Tehran for a scientific visit to Armenia on September 13. They were refused entry although they had all the documents needed for the trip.
The 10 professors and students issued a statement in which they criticized the improper conduct of the Armenian border police at Nourdouz border.
They called on Iran's Foreign Ministry and other relevant organs to ensure the rights of the Iranian citizens and take measures to preserve Iran's dignity in itsrelations with other countries.
An official at the Armenian Embassy in Tehran said the staff of the embassy did their best to resolve the problem, but their efforts were not successful.
The Armenian diplomat also said that the embassy apologized to the academics and reimbursed them for the expenses they had incurred.
The official added that the Armenian ambassador will explain the case to the Foreign Ministry.
