Iran to boost South Pars output with new infill drilling wells

TEHRAN – Iran plans to increase daily gas production at the South Pars field by more than 15 million cubic meters by year-end through the completion of new infill drilling wells, the Pars Oil and Gas Company said.
Toraj Dehqani, the company’s managing director, said three new wells have already come online in recent months, adding over five million cubic meters per day to output. With additional wells scheduled to be completed in the next six months, production is expected to rise by another 10 million cubic meters.
He added that engineering studies for the second phase of the infill drilling program are finished, and funding approval by the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) is under way. Once a contractor is selected, construction work will begin.
The infill drilling project involves 35 new wells across 17 existing platforms at South Pars, with the full program expected to lift the giant field’s daily output by 36 million cubic meters.
