TEHRAN – Iran’s Intelligence Ministry has announced it has neutralized and arrested numerous “terrorist elements” involved in recent attacks across Iran.

In a Tuesday statement, the ministry announced that it had arrested “7 terrorist squads led by the Zionist regime, who had entered the country via the eastern borders” in Sistan-Baluchestan Province.

The ministry explained that it conducted the apprehensions with the cooperation of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) and police.

Furthermore, in a Monday statement, the ministry announced other defensive operations across Iran.

The ministry stated that it had arrested “a factory manager in the periphery of Tehran who incited workers to sow anarchy and destruction.”

The statement also said that the factory housed 60 kilograms of explosive materials.

In West Azerbaijan, the ministry announced it had arrested four individuals and confiscated 100 handguns and 120 rifles.

In Lorestan’s provincial capital Khorramabad, the ministry said it has detained “a five-person terror squad” affiliated with a Kurdish terrorist group and confiscated an AK-47 rifle “with 250 bullets.’’

The ministry also said it arrested 15 individuals affiliated with “terrorist [media] outlets [Iran] International and Manoto.”

It said the apprehended individuals incited assaults on military and public places and sent the footage of the attacks to the media outlets.

The ministry also said it had arrested 10 individuals in Tehran “who martyred a member of the Basij [volunteer security forces under the IRGC] in a horrific way.”

From December 28, 2025, till January 10, 2026, Iran grappled with a surge of unrest, marked by protests, riots, sabotage, and attacks by individuals and groups engaged in terrorism.

These incidents, initially fueled by economic hardship and market instability, spiraled into violent activity on January 8 and 9, targeting military, infrastructure, and religious sites.

Over a hundred security forces and civilians were martyred in these attacks.

Iranian officials have blamed the U.S. and Israel for orchestrating these attacks.
