Cinema officials, filmmakers condemn U.S.-Israeli aggressions to Iran

TEHRAN – After over a week of the U.S. and Israel attacking Iran, the reaction of artists to the terrorist aggressions continues.

The U.S. and Israel attacked Iran last Saturday and have so far martyred over 1,000 people including the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and several military commanders as well as civilians, among them women and children, ISNA reported.

Mohammad Mehdi Asgarpour, chairman of the Board of the Iranian House of Cinema, said in a statement: “The sorrowful story of these days of our dear Iran, which is in battle with the notorious figures of history, will, God willing, and by the grace of the blood of the martyrs and the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, reach a good conclusion with pride, because the divine tradition has shown that the blood of the oppressed will not be wasted”.

In another message, veteran filmmaker Rasoul Sadrameli wrote: “Our Iran is going through an experience different from all the years, near and far.”

“Unbelievably, an overt aggression occurred at a time when we were supposed to proceed with diplomacy. An aggression that killed the country's Supreme Leader, in his office along with his family who lived nearby. Over 140 innocent children of Minab lost their hopes, and innocent people are dying under the bombs of those who claim freedom and democracy,” he added.

By mentioning the children of Minab, Sadrameli was referring to the primary school girls in the city of Minab, Fars Province, who lost their lives in a brutal attack by the U.S. and Israel to their school last Saturday.

More than 170 people have been martyred in the attack and another 100 been injured. Among the martyrs, in addition to the students, there were also their parents and a number of educational staff.

“We know well that this is not the practice of humanity and democracy to assassinate in a cowardly manner; I wish they would fight manfully. These days, the people of Iran must have more faith that no foreign government can be a savior, and it is just our own unity that can bring about beautiful days for Iran,” Sadrameli noted.

Also reacting to the recent events, Ebrahim Daroughehzadeh, former secretary of the Fajr Film Festival, wrote: “Sometimes history is written with blood, with the tears of mothers, with the unfinished dreams of children who have not yet had the chance to grow up.”

“These days, the news smells of smoke, and words are bent under the weight of sorrow. What has happened is not a ‘military conflict,’ but an overt crime; a crime in which the line between power and ethics has collapsed, and the innocent are paying the price for political games,” he said.

Young filmmaker Hadi Naeiji wrote in a message: “Is there still anyone who has not understood that this war is an existential war and the issue is Iran's and each one of us Iranians’ existence or non-existence? If we are not united and do not stand up for Iran, the result is very clear; We have seen many examples in the Middle East”.

“We, the artists who have gained dignity and respect from this land and people, defend Iran together. The wrong narrative and image that the aggressors create to justify their attack can only be destroyed by the Iranian artists,” he stressed.

Iran and the U.S. had agreed to attend a fourth round of nuclear talks in Vienna next week, following their most serious discussions in Geneva last Thursday. However, the U.S. derailed diplomatic negotiations with Iran just like the previous time in June 2025, launching a bombing campaign against Iran in conjunction with Israel.

The attacks prompted a swift response from the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC), with missile and drone launches targeting Israel and several U.S. bases in the region, occurring less than two hours after the strikes, which have been intensified in recent days.
