Iran security chief: Epstein’s network plotting to frame Iran for “incident similar to 9/11”
TEHRAN - Iran’s top security official has raised alarm over a potential plot by the remaining members of Jeffrey Epstein’s network to stage an incident akin to the September 11, 2001 attacks and blame Tehran.
“I’ve heard that the remaining members of Epstein’s network have devised a conspiracy to create an incident similar to 9/11 and blame Iran for it,” Ali Larijani, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, wrote on X. He emphasized, “Iran fundamentally opposes such terrorist schemes and has no war with the American people.”
The September 11, 2001 attacks involved coordinated terrorist strikes in New York City and Washington, when hijacked airplanes were crashed into major targets, killing thousands of people. Larijani’s warning comes amid the ongoing U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran and coincides with the circulation of a prominent conspiracy theory on social media. The theory claims that a second 9/11-style attack could occur in California, specifically targeting the U.S. Bank Tower in Los Angeles, and alleges the building’s owner, Larry Silverstein, is involved due to his purported $4.5 billion insurance gain following the original 9/11 attacks.
Jeffrey Epstein, a wealthy financier who died in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges, exploited dozens of young women and girls over the course of many years. Although President Donald Trump has publicly labeled Epstein a “creep,” he was photographed with the financier on multiple occasions, alongside other prominent political, business, and social figures.
Iranian officials have increasingly highlighted Epstein’s connections to powerful figures in the United States as evidence of moral hypocrisy among U.S. elites. By referencing Epstein’s network in the context of a potential false-flag plot, Iran seeks to expose the true colors of Trump and his allies.
While Larijani’s comments underscore Iran’s rejection of terrorism, they also serve as a reminder of the broader context of geopolitical tension and information warfare, where accusations and narratives can be used strategically to shape international perception.
