TEHRAN An Afghan source reported on the activity of a 10-member British group who are engaged in plundering the ancient monuments of Afghanistan in regions under the control of the Taleban. Mahmood Hakimi was quoted by Afghan local sources on Monday as telling IRNA that members of the group known as Malangan who are supported by Pakistani paramilitary forces stationed in Afghanistan have visited several ancient and historical cities of Afghanistan in the past few days.
These individuals are said to be engaged in identifying Afghanistan's ancient and historical sites, particularly ancient tombs, in collaboration with informed and influential Afghan people.
He said that after the discovery of the mummified body of an Iranian princess in Pakistan and the Taleban's claim that the body belonged to Afghanistan, the Malangan group have entered Afghanistan to conduct excavations at ancient sites in that country.
