LUCKNOW, India Right-wing Hindu youths attacked shops selling Valentine's Day cards in violent moral objection to sales of cards "loaded with nudity and sex". Police said shopkeepers in the northern industrial city of Kanpur were terrified into closing their shutters after mobs led by Hindu Jagran Manch (Hindu Awakening Forum) rampaged through an upmarket shopping district. "They ransacked the counters and picked up Valentine's Day cards and made a bonfire of them," senior police superintendent G.P. Sharma told Reuters by phone from the town.
