"Children of Heaven" Widely Acclaimed in South Korea

TEHRAN The Iranian film ****Children of Heaven**** by the renowned director Majid Majidi was screened in South Korea and widely praised by film critics and audience. It was screened in 14 South Korean cinemas for a period of two weeks. An official in Iranian Embassy in Seoul said that some South Korean publications have voiced readiness to publish the story of the film. In an interview with IRNA, an Iranian Embassy official said that the South Korean audience lauded the performance of the leading actor of the film. Two other Iranian films, ****Under Olive Trees**** by Abbas Kiarostami and ****White Balloon**** by Ja'far Panahi, were broadcast by South Korean KBS TV network this year. Another Iranian film, ****The Day I Became a Woman**** by Marzieh Meshkini, won First Prize of the Asian Film Festival in South Korea in October. The interest of South Koreans in Iranian films has prepared the ground for screening Iranian films in that country.
