TEHRAN The International Human Rights Federation has severely criticized the imprisonment of some 10,000 political prisoners in Turkey.

The federation stressed that people are arrested and punished for very simple reasons in Turkey nowadays.

The Paris-based human rights body further said that whoever expresses his political views in Turkey is stigmatized as a terrorist and imprisoned.

The International Human Rights Federation pointed out that torture and inhuman acts are common in Turkish prisons and called on the Turkish government to stop violating rights of prisoners and provide some facilities for those in solitary confinement.

In another development, the federation of Kurdish groups in Europe intends to collect some 100,000 signatures during the next month against Turkey's suppression of Kurdish identity and banning the activities of Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) members in some European countries.

In the latest revisions to the Turkish Constitution, the Kurds are still deprived of the right to have publications in their mother language.
