TEHRAN The Magistrate's Office of Azarshahr plans to prosecute the people who killed 30 police officers in this city during the first days after the victory of the Islamic Revolution, said the Head of the Azarshahr Magistrate's Office, Mohammadreza Sobhi.

He added that the horrible murders of the police officers of the Pahlavi era that happened in the first days of the Islamic Revolution has left negative social and psychological effects which are still felt despite the lapse of 22 years.

Sobhi also said that sociological studies and investigations of judicial files show that there is a tendency of lawlessness among some of the people of this township that mainly originated from the fact that the murderers of the police officers were not punished for the crime.

He added that measures have been taken to locate the graves of the 30 police officers.

Sobhi expressed the hope that if the court were to punish the murderers, it would set an example which could help to wipe out crime and lawlessness from this township.

He said that the decision of the court to pursue the case, has encouraged the relatives of the victims to follow up the case.
