TEHRAN -- The curator of the History Museum, Saeid Abbasi, said that a new section named Nations' Money has been opened in the museum.

Speaking to IRNA, Abbasi added that in this new section a number of coins and bills from 200 countries, along with information about their flags, maps, and the value of their currency, are being displayed.

He stated that the Money Museum is the first specialized museum of its kind in Iran.

The Money Museum's collection includes some 1,400 coins and 700 bills of ancient Iran. Meanwhile the most ancient coins of Iran and the world, as well as the smallest coin in the world and different medals are also part of this museum's collection.

The curator of the Money Museum also stated that the bills include the oldest designs of Iranian currency, and the most complete collection of Iran's historical money from the money coined by the Shahanshahi Bank to the present.

The Money Museum was set up in an area of 2,000sq.m. in 1997. The museum is located on Vali-e Asr Ave.
