Academic Calls For Structural Reforms in Iran
Azimi told a seminar on consequences of Iran's joining WTO in Isfahan on Thursday that if Iran joins the WTO without structural reforms, there will be more problems, IRNA reported.
He said impairment of the country's economic structure depends on cooperation among the private and governmental sectors and if the country does not join the WTO its economy may come across other problems, he added.
The economist said a solution should be found to prevent the economy to be state-owned or from becoming fully privatized.
He said through gradual import of foreign made goods to domestic markets the ground will be prepared for competition between the domestic and foreign made goods.
He added that lack of access to the global markets means lack of development and backwardness.
