TEHRAN -- The Majlis ratified a bill modifying the Check Act yesterday. Upon final ratification of the bill, people drawing bad checks would be imprisoned for between 6 months and 2 years or fined one-fourth of the vale of the check.

According to the bill, the person who wrote the check can not be sued if the check is undated or if payment has been made conditional.

If ratified, this bill would also be applicable to those who are currently in prison for writing bad checks.
