TEHRAN - "We are in dire need of the necessary equipment in the field of rehabilitation. There isn't even one specialized rehabilitation hospital in the country," said Dr. Behrouz Tavana. He is the chairman of Iran's Association of Physical Rehabilitation and Palliative Medicine and the secretary of the International Seminar on Physical Rehabilitation and Palliative Medicine.

Tavana said that in the past there was only one hospital, Shafa Yahyaian Hospital, which was being used as a rehabilitation center but it was later converted into a specialized orthopedic hospital. Milad Hospital, which was also once a rehabilitation center, is currently being used as a general hospital, Tavana added.

The seminar is being held at the Iranian Armed Forces Medical Faculty in Tehran from April 29 to May 1.
