LONDON -- An Iranian parliamentary delegation held talks Monday with Foreign Office Minister Ben Bradshaw at the start of a three-day visit to the UK.

The visit, led by Chairman of the Iranian-British Parliamentary Friendship Group Ali Akbar Alami, is the first of its kind since the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution. It follows last year's first visit to Tehran by the British-Iranian All-Party Parliamentary Group.

The delegation, which includes Fatemah Khatami, Ahmad Khas Ahmadi and Mansour Mirza-Koucheki Boroujeni, is also to hold talks on Tuesday with Foreign Office Minister, Baroness Symons, responsible for promoting trade relations.

During their stay, the Iranian MPs would have further meetings with the House of Commons Speaker Michael Martin, Lord Mayor of London Alderman Michael Oliver, and opposition Conservative Foreign Affairs Spokesman Alan Duncan.

Parliamentary meetings are also arranged with members of the Foreign Affairs Select Committee and women parliamentarians. Other items on the agenda include a tour of Oxford, visiting the colleges of the historic university town, 80 kms west of London.
