TABRIZ -- The Head of the Azarbaijan Education Department, Mostafa Tizkar, said here on Thursday that Mohammad Shahi, a third grade high school student in this northwestern Iranian city, took second place in the World Chemistry Olympiad.

This year's chemistry olympiad was held in the Netherlands.

Some 60 countries were represented, IRNA said.

Tizkar said the success of Iranian students in the yearly world olympiads shows their superior talent in the scientific field.

He said students in this province manage to win various honors every year, thanks to the efforts of their teachers and families.
