TEHRAN -- Hundreds took to the streets in southern Tehran's Khazaneh district on Saturday to attend a funeral procession for eight Iranian war veterans who attained martyrdom in Iraqi captivity.

People dressed in black mourned for the martyrs, beating their chests and chanting religious eulogies in honor of the brave souls who sacrificed their lives to guarantee the security of the nation.

The bodies of the eight martyrs were returned to the Islamic Republic last month along with the bodies of 562 other martyrs.
