El Goli Monument of Tabriz
El Goli is a large square pool covering an area of 54,675 sq. m.
There is a hill in the southern section with wide landscaped terraces and stairs and a stream with brooks and waterfalls.
There is also a narrow road which looks like a peninsula starting on the southern part of the pool and leading to the center, where there is a magnificent two-story building.
The exact date of construction of the monument is unknown, but it is thought that the first building was built during the era of Agh Ghooyoonlus when the monument was repaired by Ghahreman Mirza, the son of the viceroy Abbas Mirza, in the beginning of the Qajar era.
The original El Goli monument fell into disrepair in 1967 due to humidity and neglect. The current monument was built in 1970 using the same design.
The El Goli monument is one of the tourist attractions of East Azarbaijan Province.
