TEHRAN -- Speaking for the ulema (clergy) on Monday, Majlis Speaker Mahdi Karrubi said that the Islamic world needs to unite and take coordinated action to confront plots and animosity.

He added that ulema and scholars have played a significant role in consolidation of this unity in history and that they should play their role well now.

Referring to the sensitive situation in the Islamic world, he noted that in political discussions the global arrogance (United States) reiterates their hatred of Islam.

He went on to say that our region is sensitive and the Israeli government was formed after the occupation of Palestine, hence the Muslims have to unite more than ever now.

Karrubi said that governments, writers, journalists and the rest of the mass media should all work to fulfill this goal.
