TEHRAN - Majlis Deputies representing Iran's western city of Hamedan Hossein Loqmanian and Mohammad-Ali Hosseini Sunday submitted their resignation to the Presiding Boar in protest to the recent death sentence on academician and writer Hashem Aghajari.

Aghajari was summoned to court in August this year after he called for religious restructuring in the Shia-dominated Iran.

A court in Hamedan last week sentenced Aghajari to death for allegedly blaspheming Prophet Mohammad (Peace Be Upon Him) for his last August remarks there to challenge the theory of Taqlid or emulation in Shi'ism.
