Lavan exports 100,000 bpd of oil
He also said that some one million barrels of oil products is also exported from Lavan every month.
An average of 100,000 barrels of crude produced in Lavan Island every day is stored in the tanks and transferred to the dock by 36-inch pipes for export. This amount of crude oil is being transported from the island by three tankers each of which can carry one million barrels.
He went on to say that every month, six oil tankers dock in Lavan Island for shipping the oil products off Lavan Refinery, including petroleum, furnace oil and diesel oil.
“Some oil products such a diesel oil, furnace oil and petroleum are unloaded in the Bandar Abbas, Bushehr and Chabahar ports; but the furnace oil is transferred to international ports for export.
“There are a number of customers who are willing to purchase this crude oil; however, the lion’s share of that is exported to Turkey, China, Japan and France,” he noted.
In conclusion, he said that there is also a buoy in the Lavan waters that can receive large ships of 300,000-ton capacity. It is more economical for the customers to use huge oil tankers with higher capacity.
