TEHRAN – The Secretary General of the Central Bank of Iran, Mahmud Bahmani, is a prospective figure to be appointed as the CBI’s new governor replacing Tahmasb Mazaheri.

Bahmani told Mehr News Agency his priorities in the new position saying ad hoc committees have been set up to collect the outstanding dues of the banking system.
The CBI in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs has offered a 150 trillion-rial ($15.5-billion) bill to Majlis (Iran’s parliament) to boost the banks’ financial resources.
He also emphasized on selling banks’ surplus assets as a source of income that could enable the banking system to develop its facilities towards job creation and completing semi-finished projects
