TEHRAN – Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani has set up a parliamentary committee to investigate the skirmishes between police and protestors over the election results, including the events at the Tehran University dormitory.

Deputy Majlis Speaker Mohammad Hassan Abutorabi-Fard has been appointed to serve as the chairman of the committee.
Larijani has ordered the committee to prepare an “evenhanded” report on the events and the police’s conduct during their crowd control actions.
Tensions have risen since Saturday, when President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was declared the winner of Friday’s presidential election. Supporters of his main rival, reformist candidate Mir-Hossein Mousavi, claim that the election was rigged
