TEHRAN -- The Azerbaijan State Symphony Orchestra will be performing several Iranian compositions with Iranian vocalists Salar Aqili and Rashid Vatandust on June 11.
They have selected pieces by Iranian composers Ali-Akbar Qorbani, Shahram Tavakkoli, and Arman Noruzi for the concert.“I was determined to perform Iranian compositions in neighboring countries and first focused on Azerbaijan,” Qorbani told the Persian service of Mehr.
“We later traveled to Azerbaijan for further talks and they enthusiastically endorsed the idea and even set the date of the performance,” he remarked.
“The Azerbaijan State Symphony Orchestra is highly talented. The orchestra has two conductors, but the name of the conductor for this performance has not been announced yet.
He also added that most of the compositions are Iranian, but some Azeri pieces will also be performed at the concert.
Peyman Miraghasi, a musician and one of the organizers of the program, also said, “During our visit to Azerbaijan, we saw their intense interest in such a concert which added to our own motivation. We also plan to take these programs to other neighboring countries,” he noted..
