TEHRAN -- Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi held talks with Secretary General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu in Tehran on Saturday.

The two sides discussed the latest developments in Muslim countries including Egypt, Tunisia, and Lebanon.
They also explored ways to expand cooperation among the OIC member states and improve the structure of the organization.
During the meeting, Ihsanoglu thanked Iran for the positive role it has played in the development of the organization.
He also congratulated Salehi again on his appointment as foreign minister.
Salehi, for his part, announced Iran’s readiness to promote cooperation with the OIC members.
The OIC is an international organization with a permanent delegation to the United Nations, with 57 member states. The organization attempts to be the collective voice of the Muslim world (ummah) and attempts to safeguard the interests and ensure the progress and well-being of Muslims
