Indian police say an angry mob of fired workers have burned to death a senior executive of a steel factory.

Senior police officer Ajay Kumar Sarangi says about a dozen workers attacked Radhey Shyam Roy on Thursday after learning they were laid off. Two men have been detained.
Sarangi said Friday the mob doused Roy's jeep with gasoline and set it on fire as he came out of the factory in Bolangir district in eastern Orissa state.
Sarangi said the executive was blocked from fleeing the burning vehicle. He later died of severe burns.
Incidents of industrial violence are common in India.
