TEHRAN – MP Hossein Ebrahimi has called on the Foreign Ministry to draw up a list of the European and U.S. officials who have violated human rights around the world and file lawsuits against them at the International Court of Justice.
The lawmaker has made the remarks in response to the European Union’s recent decision to impose asset freeze and travel ban on 32 Iranian officials, claiming they had been involved in human rights violations.“The Islamic Republic of Iran should take reciprocal action and the Foreign Ministry should prepare a list of the European and U.S. human rights violators and lodge complaints against them at the International Court of Justice in The Hague,” Ebrahimi, the deputy head of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, told the Mehr News Agency on Saturday.
“Those who are killing people in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Bahrain, Tunisia, and Palestine are real violators of human rights in the world, not Iran which is only blamed for supporting the oppressed in the world,” he said.
Iran should enlighten the world public opinion about the atrocities committed by the NATO forces in Libya and the U.S.-led forces in Bahrain so that the nations identify the real violators of human rights in the world, he added.
Earlier, MP Parviz Sorouri of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, had said the EU has imposed sanctions on Iranian officials to whitewash the blatant violation of human rights in Bahrain.
