TEHRAN – Iran is ready for lifting visa requirements bilaterally with Tunisia, director of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicraft Organization Masoud Soltanifar stated.

“Visa restrictions have limited citizens of Iran and Tunisia for travelling to the other country and visa waiver program would be a great step toward boosting tourism industry,” he said.

He made the remarks during a meeting with Tunisian Prime Minister Habib Essid in Tunis on Sunday.

At the meeting, Essid said that he loves Iran and would like to travel the country once again.

“I have travelled to Iran several times and I have a special feeling about the country,” Essid said.

“We believe that the two countries should boost bilateral ties in different fields, especially tourism and handicraft,” Essid said.

He announced that the country’s minister of tourism will visit Tehran in the near future.

Soltanifar, who travelled to Tunisia with a delegation of officials and some directors of the private sector, also paid a visit on Saturday to Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi and signed an agreement with Tunisia’s Tourism Minister Salma Elloumi Rekikon.
