TEHRAN – President Hassan Rouhani said on Monday that Iran is against the production and stockpiling of weapons of mass destruction, including nuclear weapons, in the world especially on the Korean peninsula and the Middle East.

“Our will is a world without mass destruction and nuclear weapons especially in the Middle East and on the Korean Peninsula,” he said during a press conference with South Korean President Park Geun-hye in Tehran.

Rouhani also attached great significance to relations between Iran and South Korea which he described as two important countries in West and East Asia.

He also said the important agreements that were signed between Iran and South Korea will turn Tehran-Seoul economic relations into “strategic” ones.

The South Korean corporations will invest in Iran and advanced technologies will be transferred to Iran, Rouhani added.

On Monday, Iran and South Korea signed 19 agreements and pledged to increase the value of their trade and economic ties to 18 billion dollars in short term and to 30 billion dollars in mid-term.
