TEHRAN (Press TV) -- Iran’s Foreign Minister Manuchehr Mottaki was to arrive in Bahrain on Friday, according to the Iranian Embassy in Manama.
The United Arab Emirates daily 'Al-Bayan' quoted Iran's charge d'affaires to Manama Reza Honarvar as saying that Mottaki's visit to Manama to meet his Bahraini counterpart Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa would last just a few hours . The daily added that the visit would be an appropriate opportunity to discuss Iran's stance on the recent remarks by editor-in-chief of Iran's 'Kayhan' daily, Hossein Shariatmadari, who said that Bahrain is part of Iran's territory. In response to the question of whether Bahrain would summon its ambassador to Tehran, Al Khalifa said Manama currently prefers diplomatic solutions to the escalation of tension and creation of a critical situation. Mottaki and his Bahraini counterpart will take part in a joint press conference at the end of the visit
